What to expect at each stage

Therapy is a collaborative journey, tailored to your goals and pace. From our first consultation through to the end of therapy and beyond, we’ll work together to understand what’s holding you back, build practical tools for change, and support you in sustaining the progress you’ve made.

Initial free consultation

  • Contact me to arrange a free, confidential online or phone consultation

  • This is an opportunity to share what has been going on for you

  • I’ll advise on next steps and answer any questions you may have

  • There is no obligation to proceed or decide straight away

CBT Assessment

  • This is usually around 1 or 2, hour long sessions (can be more sessions if needed)

  • I will review the questionnaires (sent beforehand) you’ve completed.

  • We’ll explore what’s going on for you now and how it’s developed alongside work, responsibility, and high expectations

  • Where relevant, I’ll share clinical impressions

  • Together, we’ll identify patterns that may be fuelling stress, burnout, anxiety, overthinking, or perfectionism

  • I’ll take a wider view of your world - work, relationships, health, and any previous support

  • We’ll clarify what you’d like to be different (energy, focus, boundaries, confidence, balance)

  • I’ll recommend practical, evidence-based next steps tailored to driven, high-performing people

  • There’s no obligation to commit to therapy and no pressure to decide straight away

CBT Treatment

  • Weekly sessions are usually optimal for building momentum, though this can be adapted around demanding schedules and preferences

  • Sessions are 50 minutes and available during the day or evening, either online or face-to-face

  • We’ll start by setting clear goals and developing a shared understanding of what’s driving the difficulties you’re experiencing

  • We’ll use practical cognitive and behavioural tools to help you step out of unhelpful patterns such as overthinking, perfectionism, burnout, or constant pressure

  • Applying these tools between sessions helps create real-world change, not just insight

  • Later sessions focus on consolidating progress, preventing relapse, and helping you sustain gains over time

  • Where helpful, some sessions can include a partner or family member to support change beyond the therapy room

Follow-up

  • We usually check in with a follow-up session around three months after finishing therapy

  • Booster sessions are also available if you’d like extra support along the way

  • You’re always welcome to get in touch anytime after therapy if you want to talk something through or need additional guidance
